Driving and Vaulting and Jumping, Oh My!

Oct 09

The driving competition is incredibly tight with two ties at the end of the dressage phase. Chester Weber (USA) and Ijsbrand Chardon (NED) are tied for the silver position and the Netherlands and the United States are tied for the team gold. Boyd Exell (AUS) set a new World Championship record with a faultless dressage score of 30.08, breaking Chester Weber's (USA) previous record of 32.13.

The Alltech Arena was packed for individual technical and freestyle team vaulting events. The leaders at the end of the day were, Great Britain's Joanne Eccles, Switzerland's Patric Looser, and the German team. In the main stadium the final four World Championship jumpers were determined: Eric Lamaze (CAN), Philippe Le Jeune (BEL), Rodrigo Pessoa (BRA) and Abdullah Al Sharbatly (KSA). The four will face off again tomorrow night in a test that will have each of them riding the other competitors' horses.
