Michael Jung (GER) on La Bioshetique-Sam took the individual gold medal in the Eventing World Championships presented by Reem Acra. He was in first place through all three phases of the competition and made the cross-country and stadium jumping phases look easy, gliding over some obstacles that caused difficulty for many other competitors.

The German team did not fair as well as Jung however. William Fox-Pitt led the British to a gold medal on Cool Mountain by taking the individual silver. At the end of the dressage phase he was in twelfth place but an excellent performance in the cross-country phase took him to second.
