Carl Chaney and his family converted their struggling dairy farm into a restaurant and ice cream store in 2003 and dubbed it Chaney's Dairy Barn. It wasn't easy and it wasn't quick. They spent a lot of time researching, planning and learning.
The Chaney family purchased their farm in 1888 and it became a dairy farm in 1940 when James Chaney, Sr. purchased the first two registered Jerseys. His two most prized cows, Althea and Topsy are world renowned and earned James Master Breeder honors from the American Jersey Cattle Association.
Carl told me about the hard work that they put into creating Chaney's Dairy Barn. It has grown a lot over the years and now they have farm tours, motorcoach tours, and special family events like Ice Cream & a Moovie where they show kids movies on the side of the barn. Hundreds of people show up with their lawn chairs on Friday and Saturday nights in the summer.
