The driving competition is incredibly tight with two ties at the end of the dressage phase. Chester Weber (USA) and Ijsbrand Chardon (NED) are tied for the silver position and the Netherlands and the United States are tied for the team gold. Boyd Exell (AUS) set a new World Championship record with a faultless dressage score of 30.08, breaking Chester Weber's (USA) previous record of 32.13.

Pat Day on the Importance of Getting Back on the Pony

Pat Day won thousands of races during his long and illustrious career. He had a Kentucky Derby victory with Lil E. Tee in 1992 and he is the all-time leading rider at Keeneland and Churchill Downs. He visited the Rood and Riddle exhibit to speak about his long career and his work with the Race Track Chaplaincy of America.

He was nice enough to tell me about his first experience on a horse.

Germans Win Gold - First Para Dressage Medals Awarded at World Equestrian Games

The German team took the gold in the Jumping World Championships Wednesday night at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. France took the silver and Belgium took the bronze. Competition was tight with a record 27 nations competing.

This is the first time that para-dressage has been included in the World Equestrian Games. Hannelore Brenner of Germany and Sophie Wells of Great Britain became the first para-equestrian athletes to wear the gold at the already-historic Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.
